Malachite Kingfisher
The Malachite Kingfisher is a small jewel-like kingfisher. Note the patterned feathers on its head, which are erected in sexual displays. This bird at Lake Mburo is in front of a papyrus plant. The Ancient Egyptians used papyrus to write on, which is where our word "paper" comes from.
