Chestnut-breasted Coronet

The Chestnut-breasted Coronet is one of the feistiest hummingbird species in Ecuador. Hummers have a pecking order, with some dominating and bullying others. In places where Chestnut-breasted Coronets are common, they are the bullies at the feeders and surrounding areas. They buzz other bird and animal species, other Chestnut-breasted Coronets, and one even buzzed me when I was in a hummingbird viewing area. When they land, they leave their wings up for a moment before lowering them. This one was at the Guango Lodge.
