Northern Shrike

Not many shrikes are seen in the Washington, DC, metro area. This bird showed up around Halloween and hung around at least through February. Northern Shrikes breed in the far north of the North American continent, and they winter far north of Washington, DC. I saw this bird at the Sully Woodlands in Fairfax County, Virginia.
