Bronze-tailed Plumeleteer

In Cerro Azul, we visited a home whose yard was filled with feeders and plants to attract wildlife. A Bronze-tailed Plumeleteer got one of its feet caught in the supporting string for a hummingbird feeder that was being repaired. Our guide freed the bird, and I was able to take a quick photo before it was released. One of the fieldmarks for this species is the red feet, which you can see clearly in this shot, along with the thin black nails. Hummingbirds cannot walk, and their feet are used exclusively for perching.
