Wildebeest

I saw this herd of Wildebeest on our first day in Serengeti National Park. The following day, I saw an estimated 100,000 of them. Seeing so many animals of one kind in the same place is breathtaking. We were told that one might expect to see such numbers in early June, but the beginning of March is unusually early. They may have been there because of the drought. When Wildebeest need to cross a road, they bunch up and do it together. They also all stop together. Their running style is stiff legged and erect, and they look a bit like rocking horses.
