Impalas and Cattle Egret

Here is a Cattle Egret near the entrance to Serengeti National Park with a group of Impalas. Sometimes we would see segregated groups of Impalas, with one containing all males and the other females with young, such as this group. The sexes can be told apart because the males have long S-shaped horns, while the females have no horns. Impalas have an M shaped pattern on their rear end, which is why some people refer to them as the "lion's McDonald's."
