Kelp Gull

Kelp Gulls are large black-backed gulls. I first became familiar with them when one showed up a number of years ago about an hour from where I live and hung around outside a seafood restaurant where it became a celebrity bird. They are quite common in the far Southern Hemisphere. In addition to this one I saw on the rocks in Ushuaia, Argentina, I saw them as far south as the Antarctic Peninsula.
