Sword-billed Hummingbird
Ecuador is hummingbird heaven. During the trip, I saw more than 50 species, mostly in the highlands and foothills. One of the most unusual species was the Sword-billed Hummingbird. Its bill is almost as long as its body. When one came to a feeder at the Guango Lodge, it would stick its bill into the feeder without perching.
