Southern Elephant Seal

Southern Elephant Seals can dive deeper than any animal. A female dove 5,000 feet, taking 17 minutes to go down and 17 minutes to resurface — they do it slowly, which helps to prevent them from getting the bends. They mostly hunt big fish. This one was at Saint Andrews on South Georgia Island.
