Three-banded Plover

The Three-banded Plover is poorly named. It obviously has only two bands on its breast. Terry Stevenson, who wrote the East Africa Field Guide, does not know either, although he said that there is a white band between the two black bands. That sounds bogus, because without the white band, it would be the one-banded plover.
