White-whiskered Puffbird

At Canopy Tower, I went with a guide one morning and birded along Semaphore Hill Road, which is the road leading up to the tower. We saw some White-whiskered Puffbirds, including this one who sat right in front of us. I could see the little tan speckles on his back and some dirt on his bill, probably from recent excavation work. If you find one of these birds, you can watch it for a long time, because they don’t move much. There are other birds such as motmots and trogons who behave the same way.
