Magnificent Frigatebird
When a male Magnificent Frigatebird is trying to impress a female, he inflates his throat pouch, which looks like a large red automobile airbag. There are small black feathers growing on the edges of it. The males gather in leks, hoping to attract females. A lek is a display area, which derives from a Swedish word for play. The females fly by the leks and will land near a male whose display attracts her. This one was in a colony on North Seymour Island in the Galapagos.
