RWBY OC- Cerise Nautilus

Name- Cerise Nautilus

 

Weapon- Aquamarina (a razor edged shield which can compact into a small gold, squid shaped badge)

 

Semblance- can create solid constructs from water (a ’la green lantern)

 

Backstory- Cerise grew up living in a houseboat, drifting from place to place with her family of squid Faunus, visiting many of the greatest places in Remnant. However, Cerise didn’t quite inherit the nomadic spirit of her parents but found more thrill in battling the many aquatic Grimm that would plague them. When Cerise was 15, her mother’s health began to decline, and they were forced to settle down in Mistral in a middle class living.

 

Upon discovering the existence of Huntresses and Haven Academy, there was no doubt in Cerise’s mind on what she wanted to do in the future. Training herself to the limit and crafting her razer shield, Aquamarina, Cerise passed the entry exam to Haven academy with flying colours.

 

In training Cerise was grouped up with Grant Braun, Tula Vert and Haller Nihil, forming team GTHC (Pronounced GTHC), using her Semblance to be a more agile fighter. Cerise was initially an outsider on the team, her cheery adventurous demeanour contrasting greatly with the more grounded, introverted and abrasive personalities of her teammates, but over time the four bonded, and she grew to be an equally valued member of the team. When team GTHC finally graduated from Haven, they initially had little clue what to do. At Cerise’s suggestion, the team began travelling Anima, taking any work that comes their way, with any basic reward they need.

 

Cerise has a very warm and sociable personality, making her very outgoing and helpful to any she meets. However, she manages to balance this by being a fiercely trained Huntress, holding nothing back when fighting Grimm or those of lesser morals. While her talkative and extraverted personality can be a positive trait when getting to know new people or annoying enemies, it can at times irk her team-mates or those she doesn’t know as well, especially considering how different they her. Her laid back attitude towards her less subtle Faunus trait is also seen as a positive by some, but by others as slightly insensitive.

 

Like all members of Team GTHC, Cerise is based on 1800s British fiction, in Cerise’s case, concepts from the novel ‘20,000 leagues under the sea’. Her last name Nautilus is a reference to the ship ‘Th Nautilus’ featured in the story, while her characteristics as a Squid Faunus reference the giant squid featured heavily in it too.
