Ambush on Rugosa
An older build of mine that hasn’t seen the light of Flickr until now. One of two scenes I recreated from Star Wars The Clone Wars. Further information I had previously written up can be found below.
The vignette utilises some experimental border designs that I put together using pieces from one of the Mario sets. These rounded corner elements used in the border got me thinking on how I could make the base for future creations more elegant to showcase, while maintaining some patterns like the upside down 1x5 modified plates. Especially when dealing with smaller, medium sized vignettes. Showmanship as we know for creations is important, in order to show the best areas of the entire creation and that goes from the ground up.
Furthermore, this needs to blend well with the landscape of the scene. Adding in plates and little plants over the edge to simulate dirt and overflow adds more depth and detail. You can do the same building up rock-work and having a border go up along side it. The result looks more like a cube that has been carved out and painted to look similar to the scene from CW. In addition to nitty gritty details as ones mentioned, some simplicity is needed. The plants on the top simulate those we seen in the background as the main characters are battling it out. These have been rebuilt using 3X4 leaf elements in Lavender. Not the most complex part, but it does the trick for what it needs to be.
