Pre dawn, taken from the front garden in my PJs and slippers.

Range about 250 metres. Came in after 350 images as my feet were freezing. Pre dawn air temperature just hovering on zero deg C.

Female otter with cub which is shaking out its much less fine coat, with attendant nearby Heron and Hoodie Crow.

Nearby but never in the same frame were two Shags.

The scene in deep shadow. If I had not seen the disturbance in the loch, I would never have seen the otters once on land, even with binoculars which in any case were indoors.

About 30 minutes of delightful observation as the adult female caught a yellow Butterfish (Gunnel), Crab and probably a Dab (flatfish).

The half grown otter cub always in very close attendance. Not much in the way of food scraps for the birds close by.
