The anteater, giant anteater also nominated or grand fourmilier2 (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), is a species of mammal in the family Myrmecophagidae. It is the only species of the genus Myrmecophaga. This is a great insectivore mammal native to Central and South America. It is one of four living species of anteaters and ranked among the lazy Pilosa in order. The anteater is mainly terrestrial, unlike other anteaters and sloths, which are arboreal or semi-arboreal. The species is the largest of his family with an average size of between 182 cm and 217 cm and a weight of 33 kg to 41 kg for males, from 27 to 39 kg for females. The anteater is recognizable by its long snout, its bushy tail, claws and long before its distinct color coat.
