In Savannah

The Savannah Historic District is organized around twenty-two park-like squares and the larger Forsyth Park. I think that the best way to view the wealth of architectural styles is from the squares, juxtaposing nature and art. James Edward Olgethorpe, founder of the colony of Georgia and author of the city plan probably thought about this as he developed the original homes and businesses around the first six squares. This a view of the Greek Revival Philbrick-Eastman House as seen from Chippewa Square.
