The First Methodist Episcopal Church is historically significant under Criterion A for its association with the development of the community and central Worth County, in the later part of the 19th century and early 20th century. Since its construction in 1899 the church has served the community and the congregation as a place of worship, a meeting place for community service clubs, a gathering point for county and area information, and a place for social events. The building was used by the local Lions Club as a monthly meeting place. The church ladies served supper and business was conducted. The Worth County Women's Chorus used the church on a regular basis for choir practice. The Worth County Extension office frequently held meetings of interest and concern for farmers. (1)
