The "Edna G." is significant as an historic Great Lakes vessel that is still operating within its intended environment. In 1896, the Cleveland Ship Building Company at Cleveland, Ohio constructed the steel hulled Tugboat "Edna G." specifically for transporting ore carriers to and from the Two Harbors docks. The vessel was named after the daughter of J. L. Greatsinger, President of the Duluth and Iron Range Railroad Company from 1886 to 1896. The tugboat has seen continuous service at Two Harbors since its construction with the exception of two years at Norfolk, Virginia during World War I. (1)
