AF NIKKOR 28-100mm f/3.5-5.6 G

Test of Nikon's legendary D50, with a magnificent 6MP CCD sensor. Despite its age, it still delivers fantastic and realistic colours that only a CCD sensor can achieve. My subjective assessment, after a winter day with hazy and foggy weather conditions, is that the sensor performs exceptionally well. Unfortunately, the camera's operation doesn't match the standard and ease of use I find with my D200. Both cameras showcase the best of CCD technology, arguably superior to CMOS.

My conclusion is that the Nikon D50 is a good starting point, especially considering its affordable price and the possibility of purchasing some good lenses for relatively little money. You can buy new cameras that cost much more but offer inferior quality.

Two lenses were used for the test:

AF NIKKOR 28-100mm f/3.5-5.6 G

AFS DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR
