It has taken a bit of searching to find one, but this is a second species of periodical cicada that we have locally, Magicicada neotredecim. The oranga stripes on his belly and orange spot between his eye and wing set him apart from the bulk of our local residents, which are M. tredecassini. He also has a different song, but it is tough to catch an individual singing.
