"The term "the Beauty from Linz" dates back to the literature of the Enlightenment and Biedermeier period. The writer Friedrich Nicollai, who also makes a stopover in Linz while on a journey in 1781, describes the beauty of the women of Linz in great detail. He praises "their beautiful figures" and "blooming complexions", "dazzling white skin and soulful eyes". The expression "the Beauty from Linz" is also used to describe servants and cooks working primarily in Viennese households and can be found in plays by Nestroy, Raimund and Herzmanovsky-Orlando."
