Oil on canvas
Private Collection, Bahrain

Gazbia Sirry's 'Song of the Revolution' is an homage to the Egyptian Revolution and the toppling of the Egyptian monarchy in 1952. Nasser's subsequent presidency was certainly a great disappointment for her. In 1959 she and her husband were even imprisoned on allegations of Communist activity.
