Happy New Year! | 新年快乐!

This year, Chinese New Year's Day falls on January 29, which has already begun in China. Next year is the year of the snake.

I took this photo during the 2009 New Year holidays in Daguan Park in Kunming, the capital of the Chinese province of Yunnan.

The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21 January and 20 February. Around this time, spring has already begun in Yunnan and the other southern Chinese provinces. This is why the Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival.
