Domenig-Haus

Former branch of the Zentralsparkasse (Central Savings Bank) in the pedestrian zone of Favoriten, Vienna's 10th district. The building with its façade of curved stainless steel panels was constructed between 1975 and 1979 by the Austrian architect Günther Domenig (* 6 July 1934 in Klagenfurt; † 15 June 2012 in Graz).

Domenig "studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology (1953–1959). After working as an architectural assistant, he set up in practice with Eilfried Huth (1963–1973), producing buildings in a brutalist vein. Domenig's first internationally acclaimed completed work was the Z-bank in Vienna [i.e. the building here in the photo], which signalled a much more expressionistic, counter-modernist aesthetic." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BCnther_Domenig
