Here you see me almost exactly 18 years ago on my 51st birthday in a restaurant in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
I have to add something about fashion: You see me here in a size M shirt. In the 1990s and early noughties, such loose-fitting garments were a matter of course. They were highly comfortable to wear and conveyed a very positive attitude towards life. Nowadays, you have to squeeze into tightly cut clothes and let them pinch and choke you; fashion masochism has been the order of the day for years. This perverted fad, in my opinion, reflects very well the perverted state of the whole world to which it has come in the meantime. We were far too optimistic at the time.
