Ressam Ahmet Yakupoğlu Müzesi (museum)
Kütahya'nın Saray Mahallesi'nde 1920 Kasım'ında doğdu. Yakupoğulları'ndan Hacı Halil Ağa ile Şefika Hanım'ın oğludur. Resme olan alâkası henüz küçük yaşlarda resimli kitapları uzun uzun incelemesiyle başladı. İlk tahsiline 1927 yılında Derviş Paşa İlkokulu'nda başlayan Yakupoğlu, resimlerin birkaçını okul salonlarında sergiliyor, diğer derslerinde de başarılı oluyordu. İlk ve orta tahsili sırasında Vahid Paşa İl Halk Kütüphanesi'nin devamlı okuyucusu olarak, resimli kitapların ve resim sanatı üzerine yazılmış kitapların tamamını okuyan Yakupoğlu, iyi bir ressam olmanın yollarını arıyordu. 1941 yılında Vahid Paşa İl Halk Kütüphanesi'ndeki yazma eserleri incelemek üzere Kütahya'ya gelen İstanbul Üniversitesi profesörlerinden Süheyl Ünver ile tanışma imkanı buldu. Kütahya Lisesi'nden sonra İstanbul Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi giriş imtihanına çok güzel ve başarılı resimlerle giren Yakupoğlu, sözlü mülakata gerek kalmadan Akademi'ye alındı. Süheyl Ünver Bey'in teklifiyle Resim Bölümü Feyhaman Duran Atölyesi'ni seçti ve buradan mezun oldu (1941-1945). İstanbul'da bulunduğu yıllarda Prof. Süheyl Ünver'den minyatür ve tezhip, Neyzen Halil Dikmen'den "ney", yine Neyzen Nurullah Kılınç Bey ile Süleyman Erguner'den musiki dersleri aldı. Kütahya'ya döndükten sonra resim dışında müzecilikle de uğraşan Yakupoğlu, Vacidiye Medresesi'nin müze olarak açılmasında, tanziminde ve kadrolaşmasında birinci derecede görev aldı. Bu müzede dört yıl görev yaptıktan sonra İ.Ü. Tıp Tarihi Enstitüsü'nde Süheyl Ünver Bey'e yardımcı olarak ihtisasını tamamladı. Ahmet Yakupoğlu'nun kopya resimler hariç, iki bine yakın orijinal resmi bulunmaktadır. Bin kadar yağlı boya tablosunda, Kütahya ve civarının sokaklarını, eski eserlerini, mesîre yerlerini, insan tiplerini tespit etmiş ve bu koleksiyonun daimi teşhire sunulduğu bir ziyaret mahalli oluşturmuştur. Sunullah Gaybi Türbesi, Karagöz Ahmet Paşa Türbesi, Ana Sultan Türbesi, Hıdırlık Mescidi, Paşa Sultan Kapısı, Tellal Çeşmesi gibi birçok değerli eserin restorasyonunda görev almış, "Çini Beldesi" Kütahya'ya aynı zamanda "Neyzenler Beldesi" sıfatını kazandırmış, kırkın üstünde neyzen yetiştirmiştir. Kütahya güneyindeki Yellice Dağı yamaç ve eteklerinde , yirmi bin dönümden fazla arazinin "çam korusu" haline gelebilmesi için mücadele vermiş; gerek şehrin gerekse tabiatın geleceğine hizmet etmiştir. 1964 yılına kadar "Çalışel" soy adını kullanan Ahmet Yakupoğlu, tablolarını, kütüphanesini ve Kütahya'nın Maltepe semtindeki evini Dumlupınar Üniversitesi'ne bağışlamıştır.

After returning to Kütahya, Yakupoğlu, who also deals with museums besides painting, took the first degree in opening, arranging and staffing the Vacidiye Madrasa as a museum. Ahmet Yakupoğlu has nearly two thousand original pictures, except for duplicate pictures. He took part in the restoration of many valuable works such as Sunullah Gaybi Mausoleum, Karagöz Ahmet Pasha Mausoleum, Ana Sultan Mausoleum, Hıdırlık Masjid, Pasha Sultan Gate, and Tellal Fountain. . He struggled to turn more than twenty thousand acres of land on the slopes and skirts of Mount Yellice in the south of Kütahya to become a "pine grove"; served both the future of the city and the nature. Using the surname "Çalışel" until 1964, Ahmet Yakupoğlu donated his paintings, library and his home in the Maltepe district of Kütahya to Dumlupınar University.
