Admiral Dot was born in 1859 in San Francisco, California to Gabriel and Caroline Kahn. He was one of ten children born to the couple....two of his brothers were also dwarfs who performed with the circus using the names of Major Atom and General Pin. His mother was declared insane and confined to the mental asylum after she was caught trying to drown "General Pin"....
Admiral Dot worked as a circus performer from the 1870's until the turn of the 20th century. In the early 1890's, he married Lottie Naomi Smartwood, who was also a dwarf and fellow circus performer. The couple were the parents of two children, Hazel (1893-1918) and Gabriel (1896-1982)....
Admiral Dot died on October 29, 1918 of influenza at his home in White Plains, New York at the age of 59 years. He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. His daughter, Hazel (born in 1893), also died of influenza just five days before him....
