Dad and His GP9, Summer 1955

My father was eighteen years old when he built this inch and a half scale Milwaukee Road GP9 out of wood and metal. There were no scale drawings available at the time for this venerable locomotive, so dad (as I did) would always be found trackside or riding on the local patrol. While dad rode the patrol, he would take measurements of the GP9 and notes which would aid in building this massive EMD GP9. Pa is eighty five now and still building large trains, not this large however, garden railroad size.
