The Greatest Show I've Never Seen
Robert A. Newbegin caught up with one of The Milwaukee Road's six iconic F7 Hudson steam locomotives, as it waits out the scrappers torch on a sunny late winter's afternoon in Bensenville. Six of these handsome locomotives were built for the Milwaukee, by American Locomotive Company in 1938 and scrapped in 1951. When dad was a youth, these beautiful locomotives would scream through his hometown of Oconomowoc Wisconsin four times a day while leading the Hiawathas, a scene he still recalls very well.
