Fresh Snow
I spent this past weekend photographing the west slope of Stevens Pass with some friends. Our idea originally was to spend one day on the west slope and one on the east. However, that didn’t happen due to the way the traffic ran. On our final day, the forecast showed a heavy storm was to cover the pass in fresh powder. It did not disappoint. A day prior, there was no snow, and just after a few hours, a decent amount of snow blanketed the mountains.
We decided to hike up to a rock cut west of Scenic for a couple of trains. We ended up spending two hours there, as trains aren’t super fast on the steep mountain grades. Here we see BNSF 6668 easing a Q CHCTAC through the rock cut as it descends the west slope of Stevens Pass.
