Temporary Insanity #9- Fears and Desires
=====Arkham Asylum=====
Drury- Strange! Let us out!
Strange- No, no. I don't think so. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a phone call to make.
*Strange turns away from the door, ignoring Drury's desperate thumps, he picks up his phone and calls the GCPD*
Strange- Hello, police? This is Professor Hugo Strange. Yes, *that* Professor Strange.
*An inmate takes a swipe at Drury, it's foaming at the mouth, Drury wondered if there was any light left in it, grabbing the first thing he can reach, a fire extinguisher, he hits it on the head*
Strange- -I know, I know. Please listen to me, there's been an incident at Arkham. Cell Block 4, an electricity shortage presumably, nothing too serious-
Gar- Here, give that to me.
*Gar activates the fire extinguisher and sprays it at the inmates. Many of them retreat to their cells, the rest slip on the foam*
Strange- -Oh no, maximum security is still locked down but all the same... Ah, thank you officer-
Gar- Strange!
*Strange turns back to see Drury and Gar standing triumphant over several unconscious inmates*
Strange- Now that's disappointing.
Gar- Yeah, so I've been told. Open the damn door.
Strange- Why? Because you managed to fend off some twenty lobotomized patients you think something has changed? It hasn't.
*Strange wanders down the corridor leaving Gar, Drury and Dekker alone*
Drury- *sigh* Uh, get this door open.
Gar- Oh get it open you say? Can't believe I didn't think of that!
Drury- Gar-
Gar- I'm on it alright? Ugh. I'm no hacker y'know.
Drury- I know... but I have faith.
Dekker- And I have faith in you too!
Drury/Gar- Fuck off Dekker.
Dekker- Would if I could m'boys. Would if I could.
======
GCPD- Professor Strange, we're here to help.
Strange- Cell Block 4 gentlemen. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must take my leave.
GCPD- Of course. Goodnight Professor.
======
Gar- Which wire?
Drury- What do you mean which wire?
Gar- I mean which wire, Drury.
Drury- Uh, the green one.
Gar- The green one... This better work.
*With a snip, the door bursts into action.*
Dekker- Genius! Genius! Congratulations are in order!
*Dekker looks at Gar and Drury's disapproving stares*
Dekker- What? You heard the man. I only made the costume.
========
*Strange has hastily stuffed his papers in his briefcase, he'd set his office alight, an inmate trapped in there, dressed in his clothes, so that he could make an escape. It was a matter of time until Danto Twag discovered he had told Walker all he knew. It was a fools errand of course, trusting Walker to finish off the Wasp but he had to hope. There was a passage, beneath the Asylum that only he knew about, the only problem was it passed through "The Hole", a lone cell, a form of extreme isolation for the flavour of the month. The shadowed figure smiled*
???- Leaving so soon Professor? I thought you were to help *cure* me of... what was it-? Ah, my narcissistic personality disorder?
Strange- I'm afraid I have more pressing matters to attend to Jonathan.
Crane- Afraid? What an interesting choice of word... Please, tell me, Professor, just what does keep you up at night? A fear of inadequacy perhaps? Yes?
Strange- I don't know what you're talking about.
Crane- Oh, these walls have ears Professor. We know all about your obsession... Yes, a classic case of avoidant personality disorder if I ever saw one... Shall I let Doctor Arkham in on... well, the joke? *Batman*?
Strange- ... Goodnight Jonathan.
Crane- Yes. Goodnight...
=====
*Drury and Gar were in pursuit of Strange, running down those endless corridors. At some point or another Dekker had vanished, presumably to make his escape. They were close, they had to be... then the guns cocked behind them*
GCPD- Get back to your cells
======
*Strange had to admit that encounter with Crane shook him somewhat. It was of no consequence though. No. He was on the home stretch and who would believe the word of that psychotic anyway? No rational man obviously, as he emerged from the passage, just by the pier he felt free. For a passing moment. Until the Killer Wasp grabbed him*
Strange- Y-you-?
Wasp- Hugo- Strange.
*This was sooner than expected. He hadn't prepared for this, and he was always prepared. He wondered, had the police not shown up, would he have survived?*
Bullock- Don't move bugboy!
Gordon- ... It wasn't Walker...
Bullock- Commish-?
Gordon- Dammit Harvey, look at that... thing.
*Bullock's eyes light up with realisation*
Bullock- Aw crap...
Gordon- Put your hands on your head. Now. No one needs to get hurt.
Wasp-... I agree.
*And with that, the Killer Wasp flew off into the night, Strange in his clutches*
Gordon- Hold your- Hold your fire! And get me Drury Walker.
= Desmond Pharmaceuticals=
Strange- This laboratory... it's where-
Wasp- It's where I was born.
Strange- So... You remember.
...
Wasp- I get flashes... now and then. Of what I did. Of what I was made to do
...
Strange- What exactly do you hope to accomplish here tonight? What do you want, Norbert?
Wasp- What I want-? What *I* want? I want you... to fix me
