Eilean Glas Lighthouse.
Standing at the far end of The Isle of Scalpy and overlooking a stretch of water known as The Minch between The Outer Hebrides and The Isle of Skye. Built by Robert Stephenson the grandfather of Robert Louis Stephenson (Treasure Island) in 1789.
To reach the Lighthouse you travel a steep and narrow road and then walk 2kms across moorland. The lighthouse itself is still owned by Northern Lighthouse Company and is indeed a working lighthouse - automated of course.
On the above photograph you will see a white building standing in front of the lighthouse - this is a private building and run as a cafe by two elderly residents. They purchased it in 1979 and have run it as a cafe ever since. 10,000 visitors a year. Amazing couple.
