July 11. Another Wed Swim Meet
For me, this photo sums up the excitement of tonight's swim meet. This one ran late and went down to the wire, with the very last relays of the night deciding the meet. This is Rachel at the anchor position, taking the final dive for the girls graduated relay. And yes, it was an exciting sprint to the finish line. And it came just moments after winning the girls 15-18 year old medley relay, where she also swam anchor. She was so excited to swim in these relays, and even more excited to win them. She even wanted to hang around until all the scores were tabulated to see which team had won. (her team won by 8 points). All the swimmers, both teams, gave it their all. Congrats.
The excitement seems to ratchet up a notch or two when the sun goes down at a swim meet, and photographically, I like the challenge of the trying to catch action like this at night. You know you are not going to get pristine shots, but that all seems to be secondary to all the shadows and highlights that are everywhere.
