Modern medicine as we know it has only existed for around one hundred years. For thousands of years our ancestors relied on the healing powers of plants. Much of this knowledge has been purposely suppressed, plant remedies cannot be patented so big pharma cannot make huge profits from their manufacture. Chickweed, we are told, is just another wayside weed to be uprooted and discarded or poisoned with toxic weed killers. For years I have battled with this so-called weed, until a few weeks ago when I decided to do a little bit of research and discovered this plants amazing healing properties. Dandelions too have amazing healing powers...I am now actively cultivating them both! :-)
