Le phare Saint-Mathieu, sentinelle du bout du monde fut construit dans les ruines d'une ancienne abbaye. C'est un phare majeur de la côte française dont la portée est de 45km. Avec celui de Kermorvan, il donne la direction du chenal du four, tandis que son alignement avec le phare du Portzic donne la route à suivre pour entrer dans le goulet de Brest. Le phare fait l'objet d'un classement au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 23 mai 2011.
Après avoir gravi les 163 marches (37m), vous découvrirez la lentille du phare, un panorama à 360° sur le mer d'Iroise avec sa vie maritime, ses îles et sa dizaine de phare, le tout commenté par un guide.
