Afternoon Shopping As It Should Be

Hello Everyone and happy Sunday and Memorial day eve. :)

I wanted to take a moment and give a huge hug and kiss to all our active Military, Veterans, Police Officers and Firemen. Thank you for all you do each and everyday, protecting us and helping in the time of need, you are very much appreciated and cherished and wish you all the happiness and joy in your and your families lives. :)

I was laying on my sofa this morning browsing Amazon and other sites on my tablet looking at clothes and some other items, that I needed to purchase, tapping the "Add Item" while still in my pajamas and sipping coffee, when it came to me, this was wonderful to be able to do this, but also very depressing, being locked away like a prisoner in Alcatraz for the third month it seems and having no real human contact except at the office and when I go to the market. While in the veggie section , in my mind i was begging someone to come up and squeeze my ass! LOL. Just some form of human contact. It made me remember before the internet really became a thing in the late nineties and when there was shopping to be done, I remember my Mother and my Aunt would dress up on a Saturday morning their hair all done, makeup and heels, driving into the city to meet friends for a luncheon and then some shopping. My sister and i had no real idea of this when we were very small children, we just would sit on the bed and watch our Mother dress and ready herself, give us a kiss and tell us to behave and listen to our Father and she would see us later that afternoon. That happened once or twice a month and she would come home with a shopping bag or two. It was when my sister and I became older that she and my Aunt on occasion brought us along on their afternoon Saturday shopping excursion and to experience what shopping was. In the nineties and early 2000's shopping was an experience, having a luncheon in a nice restaurant, going through a store that was five floors, being able to touch and feel clothes, trying them on and seeing things and picking them up in your hands and feeling the quality. It was not about the buying, we were not a rich family and could have whatever we wanted, our Father would kill us and then send us off to boarding school. No, it was about having the experience and being out where people were and where energy was. Being all dressed up and close with family and friends, it was that human contact and communication that made it so special and meaningful, even with something so superficial as "Shopping" because that was not what it was really about, it was about being part of a small tribe, the women coming together to talk and share, to gossip, laugh and connect with one another. That is what I miss today and what I believe is hurting us as a society in part,

as more and more of us shop online and less going to an actual department store. When we order food delivered to us and go less and less to the restaurants, when theaters of plays and dances stop and events become cancelled, I am very fearful that we will loose what society we have left, we need that human contact, we need our tribe, we need that community of being together in the same boat and taking care of one another, but if we forget to even know how to talk with one another, how will we remember how to trust and love one another. After laying there on the sofa for a long while thinking about this and wonderful memories, I determined myself to have hope and have decided to actually dress up and go to an open store next weekend and do some shopping and sit in a cafe and have some lunch and to talk to a stranger and hopefully bring a smile to their day. :)

I suggest we all do that this week and weekend, put the phones and computers away at least once this week and actually communicate with another human being face to face. reminding ourselves we are all of the same tribe and we need and have love for one another. :)

Have a wonderful Memorial Day

tomorrow and thank you for allowing me to share my photo with you, I forgot to talk about it, it is my favorite black latex power suit outfits with large hat and my purse, all ready to hit the sales and then pounce my SL friends afterwards. I hope you enjoy!

Hildda
