Spring snow on the Five Sisters of Kintail from Bealach Ratagan above Loch Duich and Glen Shiel, Wester Ross, Scotland.

Commentary.

Yet another view that demands attention, in each and every season.

In spring the gorse adds a golden glow to such scenes, but early winter, and early spring add the spectacle of gleaming white, snowy peaks above 600 metres, 2,000 feet.

This marks these famous sentinels with a visibility that matches their aesthetic status.

Here, the pine-forested slopes of Sgùrr Mhic Bharraich have been largely cleared for timber production.

But soon, newly planted conifers will start the whole cycle of re-generation.

Glen Shiel village clusters around its river, bridge, pine-copse

and road junction like a veritable toy-town.

I continue my travels over the watershed to Glenelg, the mighty impressive fjord that is Loch Hourn and the isolated villages of Arnisdale and Corran.

The vistas roll on in spectacular fashion!
