Part of the village of Foyers by Loch Ness with Meall-fhuar Mhonaidh, 700 metres, top right, Inverness-shire, Scotland.

Commentary.

Summer at Foyers.

A green, rocky gorge plunges its river into Loch Ness.

Pine and Birch.

Proud stands of commercial forest

top huge rock-faces.

Over millions of years,

particularly as a result of massive melt-waters,

following major Ice-Ages,

this now modest burn, has eroded,

sculpted and engineered fault-lines in the rock

into a cavernous and spectacular gorge.

The constant sound of water gushing, roaring, plummeting.

Bird-song choruses from the forest.

The splendid scent of pine and clean air

and the glorious sights of woodland, rock, waterfall and cataract, above the deeper chasm of legendary Loch Ness,

makes for an exceptional, memorable visit.
