Pembrokeshire has yet another landscape and coastline

that appeals to me greatly.

Like other ancient western fringes of the U.K.

such as Cornwall, Devon and Western Scotland,

it has spectacular bays, dramatic cliffs, splendid beaches

and fishing ports full of charm, history and interest.

I love St. David’s and its Cathedral in the far west.

Fishguard may be an important ferry port but retains its picturesque Inner and Outer harbours.

It is steeped in history and lore, particularly the wonderful descriptions of scenes and lifestyle by Dylan Thomas in writings like “Under Milk Wood.”

Inland are the ancient, rocky moors of the Preseli Hills,

reminiscent of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor in England’s South-West.

Prehistoric settlements and symbolic Standing Stones are very evident, going back thousands of years.

Wales and Pembrokeshire have a great deal to commend them.
