Morar Bay and its gleaming white sands, hotel and village, Lochaber, Inverness-shire, Scotland.

Commentary.

White sands lining the shores of the bay.

River Morar gushes out of Loch Morar

a mere two miles, over rapids and waterfalls.

Fresh water mixes with the tidal brine

in blue, turquoise and green

streams of colour.

Morar Cross is a low vantage point

and yet provides astounding vistas.

West is the breath-taking views to Rum,

particularly at sunset, over the bay.

East looks inland over Loch Morar,

its mountains and mercurial wooded islands.

Image captured in 1981 with a basic

Kodak Instamatic Camera.

Now, in 2023, little in Morar has changed

bar a new by-pass to Mallaig, nearer to sea-level.

Whatever the camera, whatever the year, this coastline

remains stunningly beautiful,

another jewel in the crown.
