The Fox-on-the-Green pub in the delightful village of Finchingfield, Essex, England.

Commentary.

 

Settlement, here, goes back to Roman times and beyond.

Acknowledged in the Domesday book of 1086.

Present dwellings and mansions date back to the 15th. Century.

Parish Church of St. John the Baptist,

also, largely built in the 15th. Century,

stands on a small hill as a commanding landmark.

18th. Century Post Windmill stands

on a nearby and adjacent hill to the Church.

Three Public Houses including The Fox-on-the-Green.

Tea-rooms.

Primary school and

Doctor’s Surgery.

Picture-Postcard beauty.

Emblazoned on calendars,

biscuit tins and

chocolate boxes.

It truly looks like the perfect English village.
