Keswick and the Derwent Fells "Supertroupered" by a setting sun, from near to Applethwaite, Lake District, Cumbria, England.

Poem.

Clouds split like the Biblical Red Sea.

Radiant shafts of light beam down to the hills, lakes, dales and becks as if a monstrous “Close Encounter” alien spacecraft is about to land.

Illuminated yet hazy in the moody skies is Swinside Hill (244m.).

Beyond, are the peaks of the Derwent Fells.

A well-worn, snake-like path wends its way from Keswick to Barrow Hill(455m.), with Causey Pike above.

A white line, right of centre, the main, cross-country, A.66,

divides the scene as Crags Hill remains aloof in the clouds.

Lakeland in stormy climes is still captivating and a work of beauty.
