Box Hill and Betchworth Quarry from Reigate Heath Golf Course in Autumn, Surrey, England.
Commentary.
This view is north-westwards towards the North Downs at Box Hill, left, and the former Betchworth Chalk Quarry, to the right.
The Water-Tower Mast, between the two, marks the highest part of the Downs in this section, at 224 metres.
The quarry is now disused and has since been used as a landfill site.
Now that the landfill has been filled, it has been landscaped
so as not to spoil the natural environment that surrounds it.
Reigate Heath and Windmill is situated on a fairly low Sandstone Heath.
The red berries and Autumn colours enhance this wooded area, deep into October.
The golfers, understandably, have become immune to the splendid views.
That “below par” score is far more absorbing.
Nevertheless, a splendid location for that 19th. green!
