Cruiser Evolution

Cruisers have grown significantly during the 20th century.

During WW I most of them ranged from 2000 to 6000tons, the 1922 Washington Naval treaty limited their displacement at 10 000tons, a restriction which quite a few navies chose to cheat on.

By the end of WW II heavy cruisers had reached 17 000 tons, more than Pre-Dreadnought Battleships.

The Norwistani Tegethoff class (/soviet Kirov class) Missile Cruisers are even larger, with a displacement of About 25 000 tons they outsize even the Mighty Dreadnought herself.
