JCB4010
IHB 4011 @ Blue Island, IL
Thankfully only having one track of 40 cars and kicking out one bad order, train BP2 was able beat the evening sun after waiting for its turn out of Blue Island Yard.
Engineer Nick Justice wastes absolutely no time getting up to track speed, skirting across the diamonds at Blue Island JCT and the Cal Sag Channel in run 8 with the GP40-3 rebuild twins (IHB 4011/4013) bound for Union Pacific’s Proviso Yard. After 4 years, this pair is still looking as fresh as ever, as these units are two of six on the roster with PTC. After being assigned on the 115 Burns Harbor Turn that utilizes the NS Chicago Line for the past 3 years, they’ve recently been taken off since CP/Metra is making all Harbor trains into Bensenville Yard initialize PTC for the past 2 months…something that’s been a thorn in my side this year as they don’t always run to Proviso where they don’t need PTC and would use Harbor power. The past couple Bensenville trips in recent weeks have ran with foreign power, as Blue Island Yard doesn’t always have their PTC units around…something that should change here in the near future.
