IAIS 506 || IHB 4014 @ Blue Island, IL

It’s always nonstop action at Indiana Harbor Belt’s Blue Island Yard, as IAIS BIRDSW2 begins their triple with the Harbor pilot 528 crew onboard the IAIS 506 (ES44AC) as they come down the North Yard Lead at CP Harvey and meet train BP2 with IHB 4014 and IHB 4019 (GP40-2s). BP2 just completed their double in the south yard and would later wait a long time before blasting off for Union Pacific’s Proviso Yard, due to the Iowa blocking the entire interlocking of CP Harvey with “air flow” issues. For us locals, a select few understand how crucial it is for everything to get out of the way of CP Harvey in order for our Harbor trains to depart and be able to be chased. If one small extra move or regular job takes too long here, your chances of daylight get very slim, such as the hump job or the Iowa being in the way. I’ve been on the short end of the stick many times….this being one of them. The long summer days also help but you only have so much light.
