The church of San Giuseppe dei Falegnami is a Catholic place of worship in Rome, in the Campitelli district, at the Argentario clivo, near the Roman Forum, and above the Mamertine Prison.
In 1540 the Congregation of the Carpenters had rented the pre-existing church of San Pietro in Carcere over the Mamertine Prison and in 1597 he started the work of the new church, dedicated to their patron saint, San Giuseppe, to Giacomo della Porta. The works were continued in 1602 under the direction of Giovan Battista Montano who designed the façade and at his death (1621) by the pupil Giovan Battista Soria. The church was completed in 1663 by Antonio Del Grande. The church was restored in 1886, with the construction of a new apse.
The façade is raised above the floor level due to the work carried out in the 1930s, which lowered the square in front to allow direct access to the prison below.

La chiesa di San Giuseppe dei Falegnami è un luogo di culto cattolico di Roma, nel rione Campitelli, al clivo Argentario, presso il Foro Romano, e sopra il Carcere Mamertino.
Nel 1540 la Congregazione dei Falegnami aveva preso in affitto la preesistente chiesa di San Pietro in Carcere sopra il Carcere Mamertino e nel 1597 fece iniziare i lavori della nuova chiesa, dedicata al loro patrono, San Giuseppe, a Giacomo della Porta. I lavori furono proseguiti nel 1602 sotto la direzione di Giovan Battista Montano che progettò la facciata ed alla sua morte (1621) dall'allievo Giovan Battista Soria. La chiesa fu completata nel 1663 da Antonio Del Grande. La chiesa venne restaurata nel 1886, con la costruzione di una nuova abside.
La facciata si trova rialzata rispetto al piano di calpestio a causa dei lavori eseguiti negli anni trenta del Novecento, che abbassarono la piazza antistante per permettere un accesso diretto al carcere sottostante.
