Roma 27/04/2018: Navata centrale della chiesa di Sant'Agostino
The central nave is framed by pillars supporting round arches, above which 12 stories of the life of the Virgin Mary unfold: in particular, the third left pillar houses a marble group representing "S.Anna who unites the Virgin in a single embrace. Mary and the Child ", by Andrea Sansovino on the day of S. Anna all the poets of Rome came to hang around their simulacrum poems, which are still preserved in a book kept in the church.
To this sculptural group is connected the overhanging fresco of Raphael of 1512 depicting the prophet Isaiah flanked by two putti holding the dedicatory inscription in Greek "to St. Anne the Mother of the Virgin, to the Virgin Mother of God, to Christ the Savior", the prophet shows a scroll with the inscription in Hebrew "open the doors to the people who believe you enter".
At the center, the beautiful high altar made by Bernini.

La navata centrale è inquadrata da pilastri sostenenti arcate a tutto sesto, sopra le quali si snodano 12 storie della vita della Vergine Maria: in particolare, il terzo pilastro sinistro custodisce un gruppo marmoreo rappresentante “S.Anna che riunisce in un unico abbraccio la Vergine Maria ed il Bambino”, opera di Andrea Sansovino nel giorno di S.Anna tutti i poeti di Roma venivano ad appendere intorno al simulacro i loro componimenti poetici, che si conservano ancora in un volume conservato nella chiesa.
A questo gruppo scultoreo è collegato il sovrastante affresco di Raffaello del 1512 raffigurante il profeta Isaia fiancheggiato da due putti che reggono la scritta dedicatoria in greco "a S.Anna madre della Vergine, alla Vergine madre di Dio, a Cristo il Salvatore", mentre il profeta mostra un cartiglio con la scritta in ebraico "aprite le porte onde il popolo che crede entri".
Al centro, il bellissimo altare maggiore eseguito su disegno del Bernini.
