The monastery of Voroneţ is located only 36 km from the city of Suceava is one of the most famous places of worship from Romania, which attracts every year many tourists from all parts of Romania and around the world.
Also called "the Sistine Chapel of the East", dates back to 1488,. it was built in record time, that is, in just four months and two weeks. The place of worship was built by the sovereign Stephen the Great - Ştefan cel Mare - on the ruins of an old Moldovan-style church destroyed by fire.
Beautiful exterior frescoes dating back to 1547, made by the monk Gaurila with the characteristic blue color. The principal is considered "the Universal judgment", for this reason the monastery is also known by the name of "Sistine Chapel of the East".
"Voroneţ blue" or bright blue is the color that prevails in the frescoes made on the walls of the monastery. Art history experts say that it is a unique color in the world, comparing it to Rubens red or Veronese green.
The Voroneţ Monastery was included in the list of historical monuments of the Suceava district in 2004, and is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage.

Il monastero di Voroneț si trova a soli 36 km dalla città di Suceava è uno dei più famosi luoghi di culto dalla Romania, che attira ogni anno moltissimi turisti da tutte le parti della Romania e di tutto il mondo.
Chiamato anche "la Cappella Sistina d'Oriente", risale 1488 ,. è stato costruito in un tempo record, e cioè, in soli quattro mesi e due settimane. Il luogo di culto è stato costruito dal sovrano Stefano il Grande – Ștefan cel Mare - sulle rovine di una vecchia chiesa in stile moldavo distrutta da un incendio.
Bellissimi gli affreschi esterni risalenti al 1547, realizzati dal monaco Gaurila con il caratteristico colore azzurro. Il principale è ritenuto “il giudizio Universale”, per questo il monastero è conosciuto anche con il nome di “Cappella Sistina d’Oriente”.
"L’azzurro di Voroneț" o l’azzurro brillante è il colore che prevale negli affreschi realizzati sulle pareti del monastero. Gli esperti di storia dell’arte affermano che è un colore unico al mondo, paragonandolo al rosso di Rubens o al verde di Veronese.
Il Monastero di Voroneț è stato incluso nella lista dei monumenti storici del distretto di Suceava, nel 2004, ed inoltre è incluso nel Patrimonio Mondiale dell'UNESCO.
